Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I send my 4-year-old daughter to camp alone?  No. Children are not allow to attend the camp alone. They must be accompanied by a responsible adult 21 years of age or older
2. Can my grandmother go?  Yes, all family members are welcome to join the camp.
3. Will there be tents? No, we do provide platforms to pitch your tent
4. Will there be sleeping bags? No, you will need to provide your own sleeping bags. If you don’t have one already, we recommend you take a look at the Scout Life article, “How to Buy the Best Sleeping Bag“.
5. Can I bring my own tent? Yes, you will need to bring your own tent.
6. Do I need to bring food? No, meals at the camp are inclusive. Snacks, sodas and ice creams are sold at the trading post, which accepts cash only. Remember to follow the “Leave no trace” outdoor code and keep everything clean. Keeping food, snacks in your tent will invite “critters”. If you plan to have any food/drinks in your camping area, keep them secured and clean to keep those critters away.
7. Is transportation included? Transportation TO and FROM camp is not included. Once at camp, vehicles are kept parked in the parking lot. 
8. How many people participated last year? In 2023, there were 190 participants and 50 volunteer staff
9. Will the food be halal? Yes
10. What about payment? Registration (and payment) will be announced to all those who signed up for the interest form
11. Can I bring my personal gun, rifle or bow? Camp Durant and BSA rules are very clear, only Camp Durant equipment can be used
12. Will there be refunds? There will not be any refunds
13. I am a scout leader, can I advertise my unit? Please email camporee24@muslimscouting.org 
14. Do children under 5 pay full price? Children under are free.
15. How do I volunteer? Volunteers are ages 18 and above. They will be assigned activities and the activities director will further assign them duties for the entire day. To volunteer, you need to be registered as normal except indicate you are a volunteer
